In my ABC book, L is for Love and Light, the letter S is for SHINE. This is a fun one, the girls (Lily and Maya) did the splattered watercolor background on the left, and the words are fairly simple.
What really means a lot to me is the last sentence... it reads "We need that light to SHINE the way!"
When we learn something, or we become aware of something that could help someone else along their own path, I believe it is a basic human desire to share that, to be of service in some way to those who need our help.
It's not always easy to do that, and it's even sometimes a little scary. To me, "shining your light for all to see" means really "putting yourself out there" and using your voice, sharing your art, offering the best of what you have to offer. When we put ourselves out there in these ways, there's a risk involved. We worry people won't like what we have to say. We worry they will criticize or laugh at us. We don't want to look bad.
But the real story is that you have the chance to inspire someone. When you put yourself out there in a real, authentic way, and use your creativity for service, it's admirable. It's inspirational. It makes people think, "Maybe I could do it too!"
So shine your light. Shine BRIGHT! YOU are special. YOU are unique. Shine YOUR light for all to see.
