The truth is, sometimes the real work it takes to live this Open Life is a hard pill to swallow.
One of the most uncomfortable experiences most of us experience is being part of a hard conversation. We avoid eye contact, we get defensive, we may even shut down. We certainly want it over as soon as possible. And being the one to initiate the discussion? Well that is downright painful.
This is one of those times when pain = gain.
This is the time for courage. Dig down deep. Take the brave action. Start the hard conversation and then let go of the outcome. Go in with no expectations. Just go in with grace. Acknowledge that it is hard for you, and for the other person. And stay authentic with your words. Don't try to protect yourself... or the other person. As hard as this sounds, it is a true mark of strength.
You can't predict what growth and positive change might be on the other side of doing this. It might not be pretty, there may even be tears, but there is freedom on the other side of this, for you and for the other person. Respect them enough to give them the truth, and the gift of your strength.
Now it's your turn.
What hard conversation do you feel you need to start?
What Brave Action can you take today?
Maybe you have taken brave action and started a hard conversation. Can you share with us? How did it go? What did you learn?
